Summer wardrobe essentials/2015

Many of you gals responded to my recent survey asking "What is one thing that would make getting dressed each morning easier?" by saying that you would like a seasonal guide to the must-haves or a capsule-like inspiration for the seasons. You gals are genius… I knew I could call on you for your honest feedback and inspiration! (By the way, THANK YOU to those that responded… your responses were incredibly insightful and will lead the way for some fun new series and projects around here! So stay tuned!)

Even though summer is almost half over (cue the sadness)… there is still plenty of warm and sunny weather left (cue the happiness) and so today we are going to talk summer wardrobe essentials. This list of 30 items is based on what I own and wear all summer as a stay-at-home-mom. So a lot of the items you see here are items you see on the blog or on my Instagram regularly. Because of that they are proven to be versatile, easy to wear, easy to mix and match and great for a busy mom lifestyle. I can attest to that! If you work in an office these may be more of your weekend or after work essentials. No matter your lifestyle, if you are a gal that wants some quick and easy summer outfit basics that can be easily mixed and match into outfits for any summer occasion… these are it!

White shorts are on serious repeat for me during the summer. They are easy to throw on and can be mixed and matched with just about any top for an easy summer look. Here are a few of my favorite ways to style white shorts…

navy lace dress… 3 ways!

I'm obsessed with lace dresses this season… they are so beautiful, yet highly versatile. I bought a similar navy lace dress recently and I can't wait to wear it for a wedding we will be attending later this summer. In the meantime, I've been brainstorming other ways to wear it… any dress that can go from the office to girls night to a wedding is a win in my book.

Here are three great ways to style up this dress… what I love about this dress is that it's so beautiful on it's own that it's the perfect backdrop for whatever your occasion is. And while it's definitely a no-brainer to dress this look up… I love the idea of taking it down a notch too. Dressing this dress down is unexpected and of course make the piece even more versatile!

my everyday style: a summer scarf!

Much like a little jacket, I usually have a lightweight scarf on hand during the summer. You never know when you will be stuck in the freezing A/C or when the night may cool down. A nice lightweight scarf is the perfect addition to any summer outfit. Plus they can easily be shoved in your purse or bag when you don't need it.

I used to have a million scarves… and then I realized I was really only wearing the same few ones over and over so I downsized to a few that I absolutely adored. This one definitely made the cut and it's now my go-to spring/summer scarf.

2 ways to style a striped dress this summer!

The striped dress is one of my all-time favorite closet staples for summer. I think I own like two or three and each time I see a new one I totally want it (but have to restrain!). Striped dresses are the ultimate work horse in your closet… from throwing over a swim suit at the beach, to hanging out with the kids, to weekend errands, to a fun girls night out look or even dressed up for a summer date night. This little dress can do it all!

To be honest, sometimes I just throw on a striped dress and my favorite flip flops and call it good… that always works too!

red, white and blue… on repeat!

I hope you gals are planning for a firework, bbq, friends, family and fun filled weekend! I know I can't wait to get the weekend started and do some serious relaxing with my family and friends…

Call me crazy but dressing in red, white and blue all weekend is, like, mandatory! And fun too… I already wear a ton of blue and white… I do admit that my closet is a little low on red… but just have some fun this weekend breaking out any red, white, blue, stars, stripes or other patriotic outfits you can think of! There is no better time!
